Circling Path Stencil

A wishy washy watercolor background using the Circling Path stencil from A Colorful Life Designs (DANIAFAN10 for 10% off your order).  With this technique each background is unique.

Using watercolor paper (I use Canson XL paper),  I first laydown color from my water base inkpads, in this case they were Distress Inks on a glass or non porous surface, spray water and smoosh the paper right into it for a nice blending of color.   Let dry.

Once dry, I adhere the Circling Path stencil to the watercolor goodness using Pixie Spray.  I do recommend using Pixie Spray to avoid excess bleeding under the stencil.  Now I water-colored over the stencil using my ink from my inkpads watered down minimally and applied with a paintbrush.  The trick is to use just enough water to get the color down while avoiding a messy puddle.  

I let dry and then finished off by spraying with Tim Holtz Mica Sprays.

The cute stamps set is from Pink and Main called "Spill the Tea".  I did a quick water-coloring on these images using Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers.  I have best luck using these markers with Bristol Smooth paper and the blending marker  designed for these markers.

Another project using the Circling Path Stencil

This project was very simple.  I place the stencil down over white cardstock and used different inks, being careful to mask as I went to avoid color where I didn't want it.  The masking was easy because the pattern is very spaced apart and it made it easier with a small blending brush.  The colors I used were from various old inkpads I'm trying to use up, since they have been retired and I have no re-inkers.  The stamp set is from Gina K Designs.
